Shrinking
Just feel so incredibly down,I know logically it is reaction,
it has been so manic
so frantic, these last days
and now
it is time to adjust
and that larger than life
person, won't send me
flying messages,
I won't see her
voluminous clothes
and men's shoes
striding anywhere near me.
We won't share
the vicissitudes of life.
No-one there to share
our Paris adventures,
walking through Pakistan,
stealing ashtrays from a hotel
in Vietnam.
No teasing Dippy
and phoning a sex line
because we never realised
in our sheltered lives
they existed and laughing.
I can still see your plaits,
those dreadful checkered trousers,
the flowers in your hair.
Most of all it is a loss, a link
my world is shrinking
now you have gone.
