written to a friend of mine, after we had left "efterskole" (the english/american school system does not have a real equivalent)

Farewell for a friend

Now, as this life slowly seems to fade away.
Wish I had known you, but for one more day.
I have no idea what lies ahead.
Consider all these words which were never ever said.
Memories frozen, the sunshine in your hair
I will never forget - and please you take care.
To Remeber to smile even on a rainy day
a final farewell, a silent wish for you to stay.

You have captured exactly the 'feel' of knowing that your friendship is going to end, as you and your friend separate your lives from each other.. Thank you for sharing...

All I can do as one who speaks American is guess something equivalent. " efterskole " on it's surface looks like a final salute or ode or tribute to someone, based on the wording you use, almost a memorial to a life passed away. Good poem, still trying to read my way through your others.
