My ex just gave me my furniture. I left him, the house, the furniture last April. I only took my daddy's desk, my bed, and my momma's antique sugar chest. It is good to have it back with me.

Furniture and Feelings

Hello furniture.
Nice to see you. I have missed you, but only just now realize it.
I have gone through 2 sets of "borrowed" or "pity" furniture trying to set up this new apartment.

When I left you, I thought, "who cares, it's only stuff." However, now that you are back with me, you are stuff that makes me feel content, complete, comfortable. Yes, you are only stuff, but you are MY Stuff.
I love to sit on you, stand and look at you, dance with joy in front of you.

I know you are happy too. I saw you at that "other house" with that "other person." He didn't appreciate you....made fun of you. By the way, he felt the same about me. If you have a soul and I know you don't or even if you had a spirit, and, alas, you don't, I would consider us soul-sisters, kindred spirits. Now I look at you, I see how you fit so perfectly in this new home of yours. You are just as I, content!

Oh, by the way, I would like to introduce you to some new friends. On your left, Camel Back Sofa, is the "Goodwill" writing desk. Between you Love Seat and Queen Ann Chair is the Salvation Army brass floor lamp. They are a part of our new family. Trust me, you will grow to love them.

If you will please look across the room in the right hand corner, you will notice Daddy's Desk. He is worn and weary but still stands proud. He even let me put lace across his back. What a Sweetheart he is. So much dignity. I love you Daddy's Desk.

Well I just wanted to express to you my joy at having you with me again. I am sorry for the time apart. I just had to find my own place, space, and self. I know we both have been used, abused, and refused, but to me, you, My Stuff, are a delight.

Welcome home.

I know the feeling so well!
Not the ex thing, but feeling empathetic toward inanimate objects like furniture. And I, to utensils... Yeah... I'm weird... It's just my OCD.
My family has one chair that just sits there and it would be so easy to just replace it and whatever, but, we've had it too long and when you sit in it, you collapse into the soft whatever and there's no way that I'll ever leave it.
Great "words"

.
I really liked this poem. I have a special chair that means a whole lot to me and would hate for it to get broken or lost. Your poem made me think about what it means to me, thank you

A very pleasant text, with a touch of quiet humour and so well-written!
It sounds like you're really at home now and I wish you happiness and luck!
