Yesterdays Garden
In yesterdays gardenI tended the shrubs,
collected the roses
whose petals
they'd shed.
My world was serene
with manicured lawns,
not a tree out of place
or a bed left
unturned.
In yesterdays garden
by the old sycamore,
I saw your hand brush
through the leaves
on the floor
and my idyll was ruined
from a breath
on the air,
in yesterdays garden
with no one
to share.
