Dublin
Let's take the train to Dublin and back, act like we're children again,
sit in the cafe where orders go whizzing
around and around our heads on a track
Let's write down those cheesy old rhymes
take cover in a basement bar
sipping on whisky, burning our lips.
Let's pretend we are young again.
Let's fly a balloon as high as we can
walk through the Botanic Gardens,
watch Fabienne leap, land with a splash
as we saunter along the embankment.
Let's try and find the perfect
Lasagne without three
different ways of cooking potatoes.
Take a trip to the hospital just to
watch the pictures on ultra scan.
Let's take the boat from Larne in November
break down on the old viaduct,
pass all the beaches, watching the mist
on the ghosts of witches that drowned.
Let's just imagine for a moment or two
that we are young and in love again,
taking a trip to Dublin and back
and walk by the Liffey again.
