cockroach sutra

i saw a cockroach
on the concrete pathway
in front of the mansion
of psychological trips
being devoured
by a million little ants

the cockroach lie there
on its back,
occasionally twitching,
i assumed with pain

i went on my way
to the next life,
or phase,
whatever

I enjoy this, despite--or maybe because of--my hesitancy about assuming the cockroach was feeling pain anything like a mammal--including us--would in a similar plight; I'm thinking insects don't have the requisite nervous system. Anyway, I like Stewart's association with Baudelaire--his "Spleens" maybe? I also like very much the appropriately lame, nonchalant ending, or conclusion, whatever

Though I love the principles of Lord Buddha
I immediately kill a cockroach without remorse
As It will spread lots of diseases very easily
I never allow a cockroach to escape once seen
I like this poem very much as it is philosophical.

Shows that the point of reference for a sutra can come from many varied sources. There is something very spiritual about this--makes me think of some of Baudelaire's stuff.

Nicely done.
