while flying 2 weeks ago, the flight attendant spoke the first line, in jest, regarding the air mask and care for a child or children. for some reason, it affected me, deeply. been working on this one since.

airline food

choose the one with the most potential
the one who is most essential
the child who can hold the mask
who has what it takes to complete the task.

as the jet plummets to the ground
choose the one who is most sound
the other will just have to wait
until we pull into the final gate.

instructions for inevitable death
for choosing a life for one last breath
it's a choice, not personal, you see
made for you by only me.

Sometimes things of no consequence affect us deeply other times like this a person wonders what it was that make the stewardess ever speak in a joking way about anything so serious. Even I who (though never serious) would have known better than that. Great words here Kathy.

This poem is very exquisite........I think it was wrong of her to speak in jest of something that is not funny in my opnion. If you have the experience of losing someone in a plane crash, then you understand more.I love the way you've said it.

Zoya Zaidi
Yeah, strange feelings grip you at times,
In the oddest of places, in the most
Unlikely circumstances, and you start
Reflecting on life in general, on fate
And things of that sort, strange thoughts
Sieze you at times, in strangest of places,
On most unfamiliar grounds...

((((Hugs for another thought provoking piece, Kathy)))))
