Lime, Ice and Chocolate

It is your inconsistency and
thoughtless nature that entices,
like cool limes, sliced, iced
and poured over bitter chocolate.

Tart and sweet, a heady concoction
as you brew trouble with every breath.
I like the idea of Russian Roulette
watching the bottle spin
and winning a smile from you.

Lick each finger tip, slowly,
tasting the cordial, sipped
head tipped back, then running
a smooth tongue around the corners
just peeking to see if you saw.
I do so enjoy the pleasure of being
with someone who doesn't make scenes,
just entire acts in three parts.

Lime,
crushed ice
and bitter chocolate
is what tempts me the most.

I agree with Lawrence that this is a winner from you. Like the tartness of limes and bitterness of raw chocolate, relationships sometimes need the sweetness of a smile to balance things out--and a sense that anything can happen.

This is completely delightful in a naughty sort of way. I should never read poetry in the morning before my cup of coffee. I still like bitter chocolate, either way it's served. :-)

Not so much tall, dark and handsome, more short, sweet and risky

- My favorit part, I think. Need to come back and read again.

Elle, this may be my favorite poem of yours. It has an interesting subject, and, start to finish, it's very nicely realized.

Ooooohhhh! That is so enticing! You make me want to run out and get some bitter chocolate right now. I try to not keep it on hand because I love it so, but how elegant and lovely it sounds with crushed ice and lime. Your words are a gastronomical sensation! :-)
Indeed: "I like the idea of Russian Roulette
watching the bottle spin and winning a smile from you."
