Long After

I will still smile,
listen to songs,
that first leaf
of autumn, caught.
I'll still remember
jokes shared
and meals cooked,
the sourness of wine
on summer ledges.
I will remember
all and naught,
relegate to
distant banks
that grow with
rue and regret;
Long after,
so long after.

Like a personal promise... one I like and would make with myself. Enjoyed the read as always, thanks.

Long after I have grown older, such memories I can recall not always. It is the nearer times that baffle me. Beautiful writing as ever. Peter
