piecing
piecingpiecing together
years . . . for -- years
try to recall
whom I was with
-- and where
what we were doing
and when
for why did we do it
-- for how long
attempt to recall who
I am -- midst all
the rest
piecing tears and smiles together
gathering
minutes -- minutes at
a time
turning to -- hours
-- to days
months to -- years
volume gets turned way
-- up
with
crescendos
diminuendos
4/4 time
rapid staccatos
silent -- holds
those pauses
for causes
only holder knows
accumulating assemblage
events that occur
placing them in lines -- linear
points
chasing my tail
-- moments of calm
drum beats in distance
harbingers troubadour's melodies
standing just in front
of -- me
sweat rolling from
his -- several faces
but with one -- voice
piecing together
notes of his songs
a song at a time
leaves me breathless
awestruck
choosing to be
peaceful
gathering
piecing together
years
-- for years.
