long hard shot from nowhere
long hard shot from nowherelong hard shot from nowhere
fell softly on morning breeze,
quintessence of life waited --
floating there for a moment --
walked on as if it knew exactly what
it was doing.
long and hard it fell, softly
long and hard was all it knew
hardly anything was never nothing
always something
next to the last chance it
was discovered to still be alive
with elegance
it was alive
blissful and full of bliss
magic rose in clouds
showered down its wonder
on the cast downs and put outs
clowns without laughter
mothers without children
long hard shot
came and went so swiftly,
none that witnessed it
were really certain it had been
there at all
they looked at one another
as if stricken dumb, blinded
and awakened
in the beat of a heart
they smiled and laughed,
danced in the streets of oblivion
to the tune of life
cast downs and put outs
were saved
that day by magic that
fell, as the long hard shot from nowhere
finally came to rest
time has now passed
since long hard shot came and
went
no one really knows where it finally
put down
what safe harbour in which it now
rests
doesn't really make much difference
either. I figure we'll all meet again
some day and long hard shot from nowhere
will be there to tell us stories amazing
and hand out a million purple hearts.
