Après moi, le déluge!
Après moi, le déluge!are we given life to enjoy
it -- midst it beauteous horrors?
alone --
world – is a wider place
spaces others never see,
feel, or take for granted
are daily bread
ethereal visions – not conjured
but watched – these eyes see
a magnificent play --
and for what purpose?
in utero
we're all goners
first breath is but harbinger
for last
number between
counted in finite sequence and space
granted
life – so grand! is just that
prodigious amusement park
in which is played chimerical game
of dodge the bullet
capture the flag
kiss – but don't tell
tell and kiss again
snuggle while ye may
and for goodness' sake smile!
sniffing, snuffling black roses
held aloft above their involucre
brain's consolation – a maelstrom --
cumbered with tedious syntax of petitions
unheard prayers to
those/that sent
Zeus and Hera
chuckle and guffaw
in light of them all
while
Charon on Styx
waits instead
so all hail the grape
en vino veritas!
lift your glass
bend that elbow
time's a wastin'
end in sight
long strand near a larger
ocean – one seen in dreams
life, the dream
begins upon being born
from infinity's landscape
for a little while
a little while --
tears of laughter – tears of grief
come from same
ducts
as do all dichotomies
heads or tales --
perhaps most confusing/confounding
love and hate
you name it
'tis but another throw
so bet the farm
cast your lot with
all
and sundry
justice is a game
factotum of games
careering a phonetical limpid chart
plundering pleasure
with a twist
a turn – a bloody thought
thin as a whim –
after I --
the flood!
