This is something I wrote almost a year back but I never posted it. Somehow, I got the boost today to put it up. I hope you will enjoy reading it ...

So empty... (A Sonnet)

Moments like tides just flicker by
And I am left holding onto things worldly dear
All I can see is void far and near
All I have is trifling cares and unwanted sighs

I marvel at how days have quietly gone
And my book of life so empty and null
All I have done is idled, fancied and mull
Had dreams and plans that were never acted upon

And now when life's race is almost run
I yearn for all encompassing love and a beautiful soul
O' I wish I were more full and true
Can I undo the wrongs I have done?
Can my toils make a diamond of this coal?
O' God, it's a dark abyss, show me a way thru'

The title says it all, I feel empty after reading this, but also hopeful. Between "your toils" turning coal to diamonds, and your appeal to God, I hope things look better now.

Sonnets are inherently romantic, and this has a romantic aura. I wonder, since you wrote it at least a year ago, if your feelings that led you to write this poem have changed.

This is a lovely poem.
