This poem along with 5 others was inspired after reading a poem from one of our other members who had either been involved with of at least cared for a married man, you know who you are thanks for the inspiration....
It is my husband that you keep out late
It is my husband that you sneak of to meet
During your lunch break
It is my husband you think you love,
Hmmff, maybe you even do
I want to say you wouldn't know love
But that is not important, even if it were true
I can understand what you see in him
He can be a wonderful man
But where do I begin
There's so much you don't understand
You have only heard his side
In this game he plays
If you think I am touching your pride
Imagine how much of mine he's taken away
You & I aren't so different
We fall 4 the same things in a man
So forgive me if I feel I understand you
I really think I can
He may think we are different
With the logic of "the same"... we couldn't be
But I know what gets his attention
Is not always what he sees
Do I still love him
Am I prepared to let him go
The questions you ask
The answers you want to know
You think that they will help you
In making up your mind
Help the decision you'll come to
But I am not going to be that kind
If you really know what love is
Then those questions aren't the ones you should ask
If you want to make a decision
Then base it on who you are
Why did you let this happen
When did you change
How could he pull you in
Is what you have romance
Ask is this is me
Am I like this
Why couldn't you see
After my husbands kiss
Yes he may deserve more
Than he has at this time
But do you remember who you were before
And I still cant even call him "mine"
Maybe you weren't as strong as you thought
Or you didn't have so much self respect
And all the things you were taught
Weren't as easy as id been led to expect
Now if I have come across offensive
That is not what I have intended to do
There is no point in being defensive
As he is already sleeping with you
I am trusting the way I know him
And the kind of woman he would fall for
And that is why I begin
By asking who you were before
So don't ask your friends
And defiantly don't ask him
The answer is there in the end
You will find it within
PS
Is your life so much better
Are you on track whit where you want to b
Are you so free
Do you never hope for him to phone
Is this the way you want things to be
Do you ever feel alone
Do you really believe
he will never do this again
He will never do this to you
Can you really conceive
And that all of my pain
He'd never put you through it too
