nibbana

inhaling cigars at half past midnight,
the wind is very heavy tonight
and i can't get my mind straight

lying in bed, after one am,
attempting to recall
ancient buddhist sutras
(they've all but vanished now)

japanese monks
all hopped up on green tea,
stimulating senses, consciousness,
to achieve nibbana

sometimes, i drink
caffeinated english tea after dark
and i can't sleep at night for it

we all become our own gods eventually,
and so it should be -
unity of self:
intention and action

Your poetry makes me drift off to a different world, so contemplative, so full of your own images, your thoughts, random and coherent, in the search for more than there is.
Always, a pleasure to read.

Very reflective and honest. The drift of the poem comes naturally to a simple and plausible resolution. Well done. I noticed the final stanza immediately brought to mind night soul woman's poem, which is just above yours on the homepage: Dragon's egg & hidden breath. Both yours and hers are reflections on leading yourself to a better Self.
