Hunted

I am lost beyond all hope.
I miss you with every breath,
with every heartbeat.

I would gladly trade
freedom's temporary bliss
for the warmth of your body,
the salty taste of your skin.

I do not want to be lost,
hunted down and crushed
like the autumn leaves
beneath my feet.
I turn around and head for home.

Again, you've written simply of a powerful emotion. Your longing is palpable. The sixth and seventh lines change this poem from an abstract notion to a reality. You've evoked our senses, touch and taste. Then, in the last stanza, you evoke sound and sight.

Wonderful.
