I've been there! Have You?

Having an ugly day today,
hair's at right angles,
spot is blushing red,
prefer to ignore my parched hands
of cracked crazy paving.

I'm not helping, eating junk food
'cos the hangovers kicked in,
empty crisp packet and salty mouth
exacerbating dehydration.

I need a citrus burst shower,
clean hair that behaves,
skin brightener, concealer
lippy and scented hand lotion.

Protein packed brunch,
water water, more water,
but.......
maybe later, much later,
for now it's
PJs, a dose of caffeine and bed.

Lawrence Beck The PoetBay support member heart!
This is a well-wrought description of a situation in which (as you can see) everybody has been.

Faves:
'cracked, crazy pavement.' Love the way that tastes on the tongue.

and the way the poem winds down with shorter lines and the half-rhymes water/later.

Witty and beautifully done.

he he, makes me glad I don't drink these days, although I still have those ugly days, except no excuse of a hangover - enjoyed the write and if it is factual, hope you feel better soon or at least that it was a brilliant evening that makes a hangover worthy!
