Sparrow
I am sparrow, little one hiding in the bay hedge,
I make my nest,
I even sing.
I watch for sparrow hawks
and trill my warning,
my friends and I
make a cacophony.
I am brown, and tawn
I make the bay hedge my home,
I can be funny and sad,
I am clown and
trapeze artist.
I dip and shake,
I send tear drops scattering
I am sparrow,
I make my home,
in the scented foliage
in a secret garden
where the bay hedge runs
on and on and on
