jump!

someone said you are the love of my life
i myself dare not think so big
what i know is you always light me up
just thinking about you now
makes me smile

my train wreck record is not encouraging
it should not come as a surprise
that i gave up every hope of love
it is not a thing for me

yet there you were and there you are
even after all these years and even after
i let all my guards down and let you see
still there you are

and even though i don't believe in
sentimental mush somehow it is true
that the first time i saw you my heart
told me who you were

i did not know it was possible
such a big word
to take the leap

i love you.

That phrase "love of my life," seems inappropriate until you've lived your life, eh? Be that as it may, you have to jump before you'll ever know.

I like this (of course I do). You're not one to overly display emotion, at least here, but this is as straightforward a declaration as possible. It has to feel good! (and maybe scary)
