For So Long

I waited for so long.
Full of hope I stood freezing,
wishing and waiting until
the sun set beneath the ocean's breath.
My heart sank
like a stone in my chest.

The night poured into me,
turning into velvet concrete in my veins.
I felt the moon rise,
I could hear the ripples on the water
laughing out loud - mocking me.
I suddenly knew, I had waited too long.

This really expresses how devastating disappointment can be--how it feels: a "stone in my chest," "velvet concrete in my veins." Great job!

I may have said this before, but you have way of expressing yourself simply and profoundly. I am taken from my world to yours.

This is a beautiful, touching, heartfelt poem.

This is so good. And I think I know the feeling and you present it very well.
