One Too Many

I woke up this morning, sunlight in my eyes.
Seagulls were squawking overhead, much to my surprise.
I was on the beach. How the hell did I get here?
I guess I'll chalk it up to having one too many beers.

One too many
I did it once again.
One too many
When will I learn, my friend?
All was going well until
I heard them say last call.
One too many,
That's when I lost it all.

I was down in the casino, throwin' them ol' bones.
I was on a roll and in control, I was in the zone.
Having so much fun and luck, I just didn't think.
Of the consequences of having one too many drinks.

One too many
I did it once again.
One too many
When will I learn, my friend?
All was going well until
I heard them say last call.
One too many,
That's when I lost it all.

Once upon a time I was a lucky man.
Everything I wanted was there at my command.
I had money, love, happiness and oh, so many friends.
Then I had one too many, and it all came to an end.

One too many
I did it once again.
One too many
When will I learn, my friend?
All was going well until
I heard them say last call.
One too many,
That's when I lost it all.

Well written. Oh how easily a life can be expressed with those three words :)

You write a familiar tale in a very unique and catchy style! Lord knows we've all found our way there once and hopefully only once. Again, well done, Bob.
