Haiku In A Melancholy Mood

blessed are the meek

fledgling fallen from the nest

its halo of flies

     old neighbor's last cow

     the rusted bell

     makes no sound

still and silent crows

miles and miles of rain

crossing the prairie

     memories

     rain gathering in the  middle

     of each worn stair

insomnia

the dream catcher

gathering dust

     once my parents' home

     above the mesa

     the light of dead stars

dining alone

at the next table

a napkin's lipstick kiss

     in the antique shop

     my mother's china pattern

     on a cracked cup

my childhood home

only the linden

remembers me

Melancholy indeed, my friend.
My heart sank as soon as I'd read the first one and I had to adjust Ms Bird's pashmina to cover her eyes. They are exceptionally good, of course, encompassing both outer and inner worlds. I think the one with the crows is my favourite as I like the image and the music in 'silent' and 'miles'.
Applause!

I'm usually not a fan of haiku, but I like these, especially the first, fifth and seventh ones.

All very good. I like the insomnia one. You should now do some in a happier flavour :)

So melancholy and expertly written, something rang true about them, I think it is my age, time gone by and not so much time in front. I really enjoy haiku, thank you.
