Thinking
So here I am thinking,I am quick at times to flare,
yet as quick to let things just wave
like the sea, over my head,
perhaps I am learning patience,
my volatility slowly sliding
like tears washing
until the iris of your eyes
bleeds black.
Once I was beautiful
and my limbs were long,
I never felt the cold
I purred in the sun
frolicked like the dolphin,
the time we swam with
the porpoise and I was
a tiny bit scared
like freewheeling on a bicycle
with no breaks
down a hill with the wind.
I was the dancer then
the chancer with a smile,
then lies raised their head
and I was crushed.
I'm thinking so hard
that I need to relax
unwind like the straps
on my dress
undo the shoestrings,
remove the fastenings in my hair,
let the sea run through me
become the mermaid
I always longed to be.
