I want to be

I wanted to say the right thing to my self
to enroll, to be part of the scene

To adjust, to be friendly
to be right

out there

were the stars are
where home is

I wanted to write that good script
I wanted to fall in with the character

to rejoice in the light of the sun

to be part of the whole thing

I wanted to give that great speech

to love you like you needed

to say that I am

not to be what I am today

melancholic, alcoholic
retired music man

lovely shit

but today I am unarmed
and fully aware

of the different levels of green in the trees

and the moon is shaped like a bold she

to be seen as I see the world around me

I wish that to be the end of this scene

Jamsbo Rockda The PoetBay support member heart!
We all want those things, but they are not real anyway. We usually find out that we sit somewhere between the complete loser and the ecstatic winner. Better to look at the wonders of nature than into our own confused souls. Nice piece.

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
this is a good poem about the shortcomings of "wanting." it, in itself, isn't enough.

well written.

Brutally honest and real. Pathos, but a hint of optimism at the end. Liked.

Your poem is very eloquent and beautiful and it makes me very sad. I like the different levels of green in the trees.
