Killer instinct

Why do we gift the insects with courage just
right before we crush them? Courage?
Our fear. If we crush an insect while yawning
we have lost our soul.

But if we cross paths with insects
and we simply stay out of their way
or help them change path we live
in harmony and next time someone
not necessarily an insect blocks our
path we can gift them with the gift
of time.

Excellent. A balance and harmony in life allows for everyone and everything.

I think you are absolutely right in that insects deserve their right to live. I don't mind moving them outside whenever possible. They are such amazing creatures. I do take exception to the cockroaches. The only way I know to get them out of my house I'd to exterminate them and I am not proud of it.

This is beautiful. I like the idea of how you express how much crueler it is so crush an insect in our path with indifference--though maybe not quite as cruel as with malice and deliberation. There have been many times when it would have been quite easy to step on any creature directly in my way, but I always feel much better if I just step a little to one side and give that being, as you put it, a little more time to be alive. Being merciful is sometimes very easy and uncomplicated.

Great poem.
