human burdens are all we have

human burdens are all we have
ungodly faces we cannot escape
moving like singed rats
across burning cardboards

can I have this dance please
the summer is blocking
all my dark intentions now
I just need to move

there is an ire I do not aspire
in the motions of the I
fed up with reeking wastewater
bubbling out of control

I've seen the mythological tail
the horns the hooves
the malicious eye glaring
at my lost serenity

the last photo was taken
just before empty sky paled
and there were no reasons
to give a rat's ass

still one must love
the magic of being alive
blowing steam into horns
from here to the arid end

I smiled at the reference to "singed rats" and then laughed when hitting "there were no reasons to give a rat's ass ". You manage to roll all manner of language and imagery together. Very nice.

you manage to end on an optimistic note. that's a good thing, it's far easier to go the other way, and there's too much of that already. i like your imagery, it's very bull-y. bullish? bull-like?

I always end up taking a deep breath after reading your poems, and this one in particular. It's like an attack of so many images, so powerful, following one after the other. I admire your vocabulary and the knowledge of your craft.
Reading your poems is an event.:)
