Character

A love that walked away

A loved one whom time took away

The home you built ravaged by life

The pain of being apathy's wife

A child who never fit in

A dinner plate that was never full

What do you know about any of that?

All empty nights

When loneliness becomes life

The hurt of dignity snatched

A world of scorn and humiliation felt

A life deemed unfit and tainted

The hunger that gnaws

Do you know about any of that?

Pain

Grief

Suffering

Wise men say it builds character

But I do hope

You know nothing of that...
