forever young

did you know that we're all sandcastles
waiting for high tide
to wash us into perfect union
with the smooth sand
of the beach?

and miles away,
by the river,
a lonely suicide takes place
as the solemn rain comes
(washing away memories)

sandcastles never last,
memories fade

"remember when we played
in the sand,
convinced that we'd be
forever young?"

we'll never be as young
as we are right now

we are like particles of sand
and soon, our consciousness
will contribute
to the youth of tomorrow

we are like sandcastles,
made of a billion particles

This is a brilliant piece. You are a master of the metaphor indeed. And I like the statement "and soon, our consciousness
will contribute to the youth of tomorrow". I had never thought of things that way.

Nancy Sikora
I like the metaphor of the sandcastle, tide and beach. And on the one hand it is very satisfying that the beach becomes whole and smooth again; on the other hand, the sandcastle first erodes gradually and then ceases to exist. Which is sad.
