I wrote this poem, because of a patient I had that was given the worst news. Broke my heart

NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR

You were given a diagnosis no one wants to hear
All you could do is sit there in fear
Nothing makes sense right now, anxieties rise
All you can do is sit there and cry.
Treatment begins, it's a long hard road
They says it's in your lymph nodes
Sickness day after day, you can't take any more
Your loved ones say you have everything to live for.
The world just stops when the doctor comes in
Treatment is not helping, the room begins to spin
Anxieties are not out of control, you scream I don't want to die
All you can do is sit there and cry
You refuse to give up and fight on
You fight and resolve is not gone
Doctors says there's nothing more than can do
You refuse to believe, your life is not through
Reality sinks in, your time on earth is coming to an end
Tears run down your face and you need a hug.
My heart is just breaking, doctors just pulled out the rug
I hope when it's your time you will find peace

Well written. It is a terrible thing to have to hear and treatments are often so harsh. I wish your patient all the best.

These are poignant words. Although we all know that our life will end one day, we always hope it will be later. Your compassion for this person is felt through your words.

This is very insightful. I have a stepdaughter in the same situation but, thankfully the experimental drug she's taking is helping. This absolutely speaks to her greatest fear... And mine.
