Battle in the Bush

I sit and listen to the stories you tell
So many days of you living in hell
Hoping to survive to tell your family your alive and well
Enemy hiding in the bush
Tapping noises heard in the trees
You know it's not a breeze
Machine guns ready for a fight
Hoping you survive the night
Bombs exploding without warning
Machine guns firing
Soldiers tripping over hidden wiring
Screaming,yelling,firing, all around
Soldiers on the ground
Medic!!! Medic!!! is all you hear
Screaming soldiers in pain and fear
You dropping all your gear
Machine guns fire at the flashes
Flame throwers burns things to ashes
Bullets whizzing past your head
I'm amazed you are not dead
Stories of the bush you remember til this day
Every detail and everything your buddies say
Stories of battles make you cry
Those stories bring tears to my eyes
Battle in the Bush I will never forget
You will always be that brave Vet
