If
If is a thousand words,a mountain of memories
a hillock too far
and nest in a lea,
it is the promise and wish
the gift and the curse,
if is for love
for hope
and to want.
If is a meaning
wrapped in gauze
a beribboned parcel
left under last years tree,
If is for you and for me
and for all our tomorrows
and yesterdays of course,
it is a cruise
and a white water raft
the smooth and the rough
If, is if only, or just because
the words lovers say
just before the night falls
and day breaks again.
If is the newborn
and the last breath,
If is a thousand words
and the hope in the eye
and the song
and the spirit
If, if, if.
