and they fill my way

they fill my way into shadows
- years of searching
the home of tears

in a mirror looking back
I see your face
in a kiss of goodbye

as the trains depart
for a destination we called war

and hell was up on us
as the birds cried
filling the wind with their flight

and they fill my way
-years of saying goodbye

lastromantichero The PoetBay support member heart!
A very sad poem of parting because of war
so powerfully written

so reminiscent

'Remember me when all around you
Say that I have died
I have not
I shall return
When summer blooms again
And the bugles of hell have
found the last peace
Then await my return
With anticipation '

a very good and memorable text you have written

"they fill my way into shadows

This is poetry, and a lovely one at that!
I like the fugal use of words in few broad but meaningful strokes...
Come back to us, Kath!
Thanks for this lovely piece!
