Licked

Black painted fingernails press the silver bar
Piercing her tragus, closing the cartilage door to
Her ear canal. Such a small action, yet she uses
Her middle and index fingers to close out all sound waves
Attempting to break her concentration. The vibration of
Her ear drums slow to a barely living pulse
Thoughts are heard at preferred decibels and the stress levels lower
Pinkies are delicately drawn over closed eyes,
Wiping away doubt and anticipation as well
As perspiration that seeps into her mouth
She licks the salty liquid
