Lost Memories

I remember how it all
began.
One cold morning when
all the world was
silent,
you asked me to be
yours.

I remember being happy
I remember smiling
for all who could see until
it hurt, I couldn't stop.
Yet now I smile no more.

I remember talking to you for
ten hours straight
without a single awkward
pause.

I remember your first
"I love you"
which gave my
heart the feeling of
wings.

I remember our first dance.
I was lost in your arms
which wrapped securely around
my waist, guiding me around
the floor.

I remember how you
pulled me close, my head
resting on your shoulder,
arms around your neck
in a tight embrace
as we swayed and
glided to the music.

But, most of all
I remember
the night it all ended.
The night we walked
under the stars down
by the glossy lake
and you told me
that all the
happiness
of the past year had
come to an end.

Now, I sit in my
agony alone,
without your soft comforting
words.

This place is lonely
and cold.
Darkness covers it.
Will I ever escape
this nightmare?

No matter how
much it hurts,
here I shall
remain until
light and love
find me again.
