Reminiscing...

Little Girl

Little girl
twirling in your sunlit skirt
laughing at the butterflies
falling down giggling in the grass,

you are beautiful, little girl---
you will be a beautiful woman someday.

You will be beautiful someday, little girl.

Everyone can see it, little girl---
they talk about you
twirling in your sunlit skirt
they smile at your laughter
and laugh when you fall down
giggling in the grass.

They talk about you, little girl
with smiles on their faces
and love in their voices.

They talk about you, little girl
with hope and faith and excitement
for the years to come.

Little girl
in the years to come,
you will twirl and laugh
in your sunlit skirt
and you will be beautiful.

Everyone can see it
they talk about you
still twirling in your sunlit skirt
they say Look, she's growing up
and they cry happy tears

tears of hope
of faith
of excitement.

Smiling and loving, they await
your future's bright beacon
until the day finally comes
the day when they look at you
twirling in the silky spreading skirts
of a dress that hugs your body
and they remember the little girl giggling in the grass
and she is not the girl who stands before them now.

Little girl,
you are not a little girl anymore
you are a woman.

Little woman,
you will have a little girl of your own someday.

I agree with TubaGiant- this reminds me of There Was a Girl
It is beautiful and interestingly soothing- I think it's the repetition
I like reading it
it makes me happy

I do like it very much
it is very....
hmm...
I don't really have a word for it
pretty and contemplative (kon-temp`-la- tiv) will have to do
