Scars

Daddy--

Daddy?
Daddy--I am so afraid, Daddy--

There is a man hitting my sister
--he's hurting her, Daddy--
I am afraid he's going to hurt me

Please make him stop hitting her
Daddy? Daddy--make him stop

I'm scared, Daddy
my sister is scared

Daddy, he slammed my sister into a bookcase
--I saw him do it--
and Mommy yelled at him
my sister says we should take her teddy and me and
find a new house

Because you're the man hitting my sister, Daddy
you're the one yelling at me
at her
and at Mommy

Daddy?--
Daddy, I am so afraid of you

Best to show these scars...get it out and watch them heal. Men do things for the strangest of reasons sometime, women too, and there is no excuse for such abuse. All we can do is raise ourselves above these chains that bind us.

Pity is hard to feel when we are a victim, but pity is worse to take for the perpetrator....they experience self hate, which leads to either more anger, or rehabilitation.

I hope the latter, but as an adult, we can walk away from the anger.

A poignant conversation in poetic exhalation.

Smiling at you
