In the Lap of Nature

The odor of the soil accompanied by the wind
Was on the way to welcome me
To the farm where I used to spend my holidays
When I was little

Now the things have changed here
The vegetables, shrubbery, and the green grass the all
Were startled to see me
As if I were alien to them
I leaned to them
And greeted with bliss
The surrounding made a note of recognition

I stretched out under the shade of an old tree
And mused over my early days
All the childhood memories
Flushed before my mind's eye
My weary eyes were pleased
And were making complains why I did not bring them early!
