longing...
someone else's feelings, not my own

Come, I'll Sleep Quickly

Come, I'll sleep quickly
with you there to hold me
and hush your sweet breath in my ear.

I oft fall asleep
to the dream of you lying
beside me and holding me near.

But when I see you
with your hand locked in his
then I know that you're not to be mine.

And so I've resolved
now to silence my hopes
and romantic ambitions resign.

An ardent request, highly topical in this cyber age of loving, we exist in. A longing it seems that most participants of love triangles find themselves in...love is like that, very strange, very surreal and never predictable.

I certainly can relate to the sleep references. Feeling loved and secure are always the best circumstances to sleep well.

Best of luck in the resignation!

Tai, smiling at you

Good job with the meter; a sigh of "resignation," this is a kind of grown-up's lullaby I think.
