Its getting more difficult to listen to country stations these days or watch the videos.

I think God liked Country Music

I think God liked country music

when it wasn't pop
when it wasn't rock

when it used
the fiddle and a bow
to make boots tap
their pointed toes
and mommas rocked their babies
to their radios

I think God liked country music

when it was pure
when it was truer

when it used
a steel guitar
that cried like a heart
with a fresh made scar
after love left it lonely
in a honkey-tonk bar

I think God liked country music

when life's journey wrote the songs
when consequences followed wrongs

when it used
pianos played
by soulful hands
and melodies made
by emotional tunes
that will never fade

I think God liked country music

when sang by Hank
before George drank

when lyrics often
included him
in songs sung
by Roy and Slim
and country folks felt
the music knew them

If God feels this way about country music I can well understand why Mozart, Bach and the rest of their company were reincarnated as them "long haired sons of Jesus in the chartreuse micro bus."* ;-)
Convoy by C.W. McCall spent 6 weeks at #1 on the country charts in 1975. YeeHaw!!
