a story of leaves

Recycling

Rustling under the rain
the few leaves that remain
sing their final refrain
as a link in Nature's chain

Planned by the Lifegiver,
with each drop they quiver
and each breeze makes them shiver
as drops become a river

Rivers on each leaf
break the spine beneath
and though its fall is brief
each has its time of grief

The glory days have passed
with their greatest saved for last
in colors from copper to brass
their impact inspiring and vast

Their beauty has gone and yet
as they fall soft and wet
another purpose will be met
Nature's plan devinely set

Their structure will fall apart
and what was once seen as art
will feed earth's very heart
where brand new life will start

What was created will create
It is a Godly trait
that in our efforts to be great
we all immitate

It is a splendid cycle, except for the raking bit, but that's the price of keeping lovely trees.
Thank you , and good choice of subject :-)
