The Sea

The waves crash
before me
I hear the siren's song
calling me
back to my home.
My journeys are many,
my life has been free
but I've stayed
long away from the sea.
The sound of the water,
the salt in the air
beckon me back to
the warmth I once knew.
The tide as it rises
is pulling me there.
Yes, I've stayed long
away from the sea.

"Home is the sailor, home from the sea" (Housman). As with your previous poem you evoke (at least for me) a timeless theme with equally timeless language.

Wonderful simplicity in this. I can hear the call of the siren and taste the salt.

Welcome to the group.
