A most elegant country residence, where many foolish years ago, I had an affair
with a wealthy jet-set Woman.. And I've often mused about it... and the following lines emerged recently..

In Broughton Court (for music)

Chic conversations
With hidden dangers
Covert sensations
Intimate strangers -
Too much entrusted
Hallmarks now clear
Focus adjusted
Press pause just here

In Broughton Court..

Roses adorning
Her scented pillow
A subtle warning -
Why weeps that willow?
Is all exquisite?
My spirit wonders
Late evening thunders
It's safe - but is it

In Broughton Court?

Well done, Mr. Cooke. Remembrance, tension, dread served up in a very tidy package.

A most mysterious musing, Mr Cooke, not least for the rhyme scheme that adds to the air of unease. For some reason, I hear strings...
Applause!

The repeated use of In Broughton Court reminds me of In Flanders Field - is it a conscious echo?
