lithic litmus coffee break

my coffee mug
has toffee rings

like the year rings

studied

by dendrochronologists

do they say
a too vivid chat
or no time for a break

rather

here we stand on an ocean
recently departed

we drink shellfish

like fish

 and put lemon

in our appliances

the sloe and dog roses
as rampant
as alba and gallica

drink the coffee
taste the sea

Some people read tea leaves, you read the cup itself. It seemed to take you to primordial waters, with unique imagery along the way.
