I have other work on Gallpoli. Also other work on Word War One.

ON THIS DAY APRIL THE 25TH 1915

Back home in Tyldesley , Lancashire , he had a wife , a daughter , Mary , age eight

On this day , Joe , stood among his pals , looking to the front

Mouth dry , needing a puff on his pipe , as he needed a piss badly

Orders given , '' FUSILEERS WILL NOW BOARD ''

Ships guns fired , sending shells , 15 inch , 16 inch , towards the clifftops

Shells hit the cliffs , the cliffs erupted , black smoke rose to the sky above

Joe , sixth in line , descended from the ship , to take his place in the boat

The boat had been a lifeboat in another life

All to soon it would be a boat of death

On this day part of me died, along with naïveté & innocence.
