"ONE"

Late in the night they both walked hand in hand, talking to each other. Today after many days he came home early from his office. He was very tired but when she asked him sweetly for a walk he couldn't resist. Her beautiful smile made him weak at knees. She was an obedient wife never cursing him or taunting him and he was thankful to have her.
Who said that arrange marriages didn't work? They both were living happily and it was a year from now almost actually. When the clock will struck 12 today they both will be celebrating their 1st anniversary. At first their relationship struggled, not knowing what to expect from the other they both were reserved. As the time passed they got use to each other and a little while after knowing what to expect from one another. Learning each other moods and working the way through to the life ahead.
The street was dark and the ground still showed the signs of the rain. His firm hand in hers made her feel protected. She loved having these small walks with him around the neighborhood. One day she asked him that does he think that she is a silly hopeless romantic girl. He answered with his mesmerizing smile that he loved her for being excited at small gifts he gave her and that's his token of happiness. They both cared and respected each other. He was not the king of the world or a Hollywood movie star. But for her he was the king of her heart and star of her life.
He yawned and looked at his watch; two drops of water were on his watch and it was just 5 minutes to their 1st anniversary. It was a year now and he never had actually told her that he loved her. He saw a flower vendor on the opposite road and his brain clicked, what's more better time to express love to your wife then on your wedding anniversary with a romantic bonus of drizzling. He let go of her hand and suddenly she looked at him in amazement. "Don't worry I will be right back" he ensured her. He crossed the road and bought a rose. He was thinking about telling her everything, how she has changed him and his life. How important she is for him, how crazy he gets when she goes away to her parents' home, how he inhaled the fragrance her hairs, how happy he gets when she is still awake when he arrives home late at night and how much deeply he is in love with her.
On the other side of the road the feelings were mutual, she was remembering the day she fell ill and he cared for her all day, how lonely she was when he went on a business trip for a week, how she loved to smell his shirts, how she looks at him when he is sleeping like a baby and how deeply she is in love with her. Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud bang. Her eyes could not believe the scene in front. A car had strike the vendor and all the petals were spread on the ground. He was lying a little away from the car; his white shirt had taken the color of rose petals. Running madly she fell near him. Blood stained her clothes; she held his face in her hands. He was looking at her with his dazzling eyes as he was trying to memorize her face. And very suddenly he closed his eyes and with them her world had closed too.
Just one second had turned her life upside down, just one minute before she was thinking of him making love to her. Just one hour before they were holding hands. Just one month before she had built up the courage to tell him her feelings. Just one year before they were tied in matrimonial.
