the loneliness abides
some people like to have the tv onto hear the voices
and not feel so alone -
just, to not feel
some people like to blare the radio
all day, all the time,
the tones of the music
and the rhythms
of other human's voices
make them feel a connection
(drowns out thought,
drowns out feeling,
drowns out humanity)
some people keep the television on,
and it comforts them,
and they get lost in the plot twists
and they can't hear
the birds singing outside
(and the night swallows the voices of the birds,
but not the loneliness,
the loneliness abides)
