THE STUB

When day is as dark as the night
Darkies replaces the light
Yet , before me I can see
A flickering light
I walk , stumbling towards it
Hope still in my faltering existence

In dim light I see a face , a smile shows
A hand beckons me to follow
This I do , my legs feel , heavy , as like
Lead in my boots

I false my legs to lift my leaden boots
Up one at a time , and stagger on

The face smiles , waves the dim light
Turns around , go's on , with me following

The smiling face , stays in my mind
The face fells familiar , some how
I stumble , stop going foreword
How I wona sit down , rest , lay down
Let the darkness take me

Before I my legs give finally in
I look forward , to see The Face , with its
Reassuring smile

I am closer now
And recognize The Face
Tiss you , my friend

WE meet , we hug , the light was from a candle
That candle , not even a stub now , just wax
Showing a blueish light , it flickers , go's out

Tobe instantly replaced by brilliant light
All is now good and well again

Truly inspired, Ken. I enjoyed the way you wrote the journey and the friend, the happiness at the end. The burnt out candle, the stub. Nice write.

This is a gem Ken.
A beautiful rendition of friendship.
A light, however small can still flicker in the dark when there is the gift of true friends:)
