heart of folly
heart of follyheart of folly
-- indefatigable
lives at center --
cleverly spreading web-like
filaments throughout
creation's maze
aloof to tears and pain
-- multitudes' woe
folly's own making
-- dogs eat dogs
in downtown firmaments
where
junkies catch -- fixes --
profound and ponderous madness
-- evangelists haul in fortunes
eclipsing insatiable despair!
from fools who
give --
-- faith can't be
bought
and hope is
child of the ego
but there is light
midst it all
causing a shadow to be
cast
from folly's own
heart
that may someday succumb
to its brilliance
-- until then
tightly coiled folly
uncoils its black-hearted wrath
on anyone
-- everyone
in its path.
