story about the aging process.

Dead End

The old gentleman wakes up with a breakfast
of one fried egg and a small glass
of vodka and orange juice
his sleeping dog about his age in dog years
is curled up on the floor next to him
touching his masters leg
its a tight bond between them
The old gentleman is unusually quiet this morning
his thoughts over the years have deepen considerably
his eyesight is so much weaker
his hearing is slowly failing too
Yes his body is breaking down and he feels it
as he stumble about his room this morning
Father time is closing in
Time is fleeting
Moments are precious
Tears fall down his face
The sun rises slowing taking over the sky
The force of its powerful light breaking through
The old gentleman's face appears unusually
serious this morning
The old gentlemen sees himself
travelling too fast
moving on a one way street
to a dead end!

You have captured the feeling so well. I have often wondered how it must feel to feel.your body dying while the mind lives and remembers. So sad to know and have time to prepare. A man who can no longer dream. Beautiful writing.
