I'm in Southern Louisiana watching friends' homes become seasonally, viciously inundated.

The Hydra

Water here is a heinous sinuous thing
It creeps on python steps across
The lawns roads fields and bayous
Dull and fetid brown and churning

The rains fell in deluge sheets
Moving inland to the state's centre
Commandeering streams and rivelets
Holding them ransom in muddy brown

Each will yield to this hydrophobia
By vomiting out the bullied excess
To fill the coastal plains and swamps
With timeless treachery predicted woe

I like how you've turned a natural force into a living thing.

I like this, the image of the multi headed snake creeping across the land, holding it and causing destruction. (I don't llike the destruction, just the way you've created the image!)
